Direct oxidation of propylene to propylene oxide is accomplished using alkaline earth metal compound-supported silver catalysts containing an inorganic chloride promoter and a potassium promoter derived from a potassium salt containing a nitrogen oxyanion or precursor thereof.

Selon l'invention, l'oxydation directe de propylène en oxyde de propylène s'effectue au moyen de catalyseurs d'argent sur support d'un composé de métal alcalino-terreux, contenant un promoteur à base de chlorure inorganique ainsi qu'un promoteur à base de potassium dérivé d'un sel de potassium contenant un oxanion azote ou un précurseur de celui-ci.
