This invention pertains to the novel use of prostaglandin E derivatives in the treatment of dementia. A method is described of treating dementia in human beings which comprises administering to the human being a therapeutic amount of a prostaglandin E derivative, alone or in combination with antiinflammatory agents which inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins.
