31/11 PROSTANOIC ACID DERIVATIVES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Prostanoic acid derivatives of the formula, Image [I] wherein R1 is hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl, R2 is C4-8 alkyl and Image is Image or Image , are prepared by reacting a cyclopentane of the formula, Image wherein R2 is defined above and R is hydrogen or tetra- hydropyranyl, with Wittig reagent of the formula, (R3)3P=CH(CH2)3COOM wherein R3 is aryl and M is alkali metal and, if necessary, hydrolyzing, or by oxidizing a compound of the formula, Image wherein R1 and R2 are as defined above and R9 is tetra- hydropyranyl group, with an oxidizing agent. The compounds (I) are useful as anti-ulcer agent.
