The prosthesis comprises a femoral component (2) having at least one substantially spheroidal condylar bearing surface (10,11), a tibial component (6) including a tibial platform (20), and a plastics meniscal component (7) located between the condylar bearing surface (10,11) and the tibial component (6) and being slidable on the platform (20). The meniscal component (7) is retained on a guide (23) upstanding from the platform (20). The guide (23) includes a post (24) and a cap (25) which is a snap-fit in a recess (30) in the meniscal component (7). The guide (23) is slidable in a track (32) within the meniscal component (7) so that movement of the meniscal component (7) in the anterior/posterior direction (A-P) is limited by impingement of the meniscal component (7) on the post (24) and/or on a rail member (21) projecting from the surface of the tibial platform (20). To install the prosthesis, a femur (1) is resected to provide a base for receiving the femoral component (2), which is retained in the resected femur by pins (3). The tibia (4) is resected to provide a flat base into which the tibial component (6) is fixed by a stem (5).
La prothèse comprend une composante fémorale (2) ayant au moins une surface d'appui sphéroédrique condylienne (10,11), un composante tibiale (6), notamment une plate-forme tibiale (20), et une composante méniscale en plastique (7) située entre la surface d'appui condylienne (10,11) et la composante tibiale (6) et pouvant glisser sur la plate-forme (20). La composante méniscale (7) est retenue sur un guide (23) faisant saillie par rapport à la plate-forme (20). Le guide (23) comporte un tenon (24) et un capuchon (25) encliquetable dans un logement (30) dans la composante méniscale (7). Le guide (23) peut être glissé dans un rail (32) à l'intérieur de la composante méniscale (7), de façon que le mouvement de la composante méniscale (7) dans la direction antérieure/postérieure (A-P) soit limité par l'impact de la composante méniscale (7) sur le tenon (24) et/ou sur un élément à rail (21) faisant saillie à la surface de la plate-forme tibiale (20). Pour installer la prothèse, on procède à une résection du fémur (1), afin que ce dernier soit en mesure de recevoir la composante fémorale (2), qui est retenue dans le fémur réséqué par des broches (3). Le tibia (4) est réséqué pour offrir une base plate dans laquelle la composante tibiale (6) est fixée au moyen d'une tige.
