A intrinsically coloured translucent flexible make-up prosthetic used in the theatrical and motion picture arts, comprises a core of a silicone material having characteristics resembling human skin or other organic tissue, and a membrane which does not chemically bond to the core material, encapsulating the core and providing a surface by which the prosthetic can be adhered to a subject and made-up. The prosthetic is made by a moulding technique in which internal surfaces of complimentary mould parts are coated with a curable material which forms the said membrane and acts as an opposing density on the core material for a more realistic movement and surface tissue appearance. A flock comprising coloured chopped fibrous material is then applied over the membrane forming material and the filers caused to stand up from the material. The mould is closed and the silicone core material which has been coloured by means of pigment for "general tone" and opacity control, and coloured flock in the form of pointillism to control colour depth by means of particle density, is injected and bonds to the membrane by means of the flock to form the prosthetic. After the materials have cured, the mould is opened and the prosthetic removed. The prosthetic can then be repaired on or off the subject by using the same materials it is made of without effecting the general organic appearance of the prosthetic. The prosthetic can then be made-up or not depending on the effect required.
