2124316 9311254 PCTABS00022 A protein with improved stability against proteolytic degradation is provided, wherein one or more protease labile amino acid segments are substituted by protease non-labile amino acid segment(s). The protein to be stabilized is advantageously an enzyme, e.g. of microbial origin, such as a lipase, for instance a lipase derived from a strain of Humicola, e.g. H. lanuginosa, or Rhizomucor, e.g. R. miehei. The stabilized protein may be produced by recombinant DNA techniques and may advantageously be used for detergent purposes.
