A protectively reflected binary image is provided comprising a thermally imaged transparency on which is superposed a thin reflective protective overcoat, the imaged transparency comprising a binary image supported on a transparent substrate. The reflective protective overcoat is interfacially bonded to the thermally imaged transparency preferably such that the binary image is interposed between the transparent substrate and the reflective protective overcoat. A method for transferring a reflective protective overcoat onto an imaged transparency is also provided, whereby an image surface of the imaged transparency is protected and made viewable as a reflected image, the method utilizing a laminar transfer sheet comprising a carrier web and a reflective protective overcoat, the laminar transfer sheet being laminated onto the image surface with the carrier web subsequently removed to thereby release the reflective protective overcoat, the overcoat remaining bonded to the image surface.

L'invention concerne une image binaire réfléchie de manière protégée comprenant un transparent à image thermique sur lequel une mince surcouche de protection est placée, ledit transparent comprenant une image binaire supportée par un substrat transparent. La surcouche protectrice réfléchissante est liée de manière interfaciale au transparent à image thermique, de préférence de sorte que l'image binaire soit intercalée entre le substrat transparent et la surcouche protectrice. L'invention concerne également un procédé de transfert d'une couche de protection réfléchissante sur un transparent à image qui permet de protéger une surface d'image dudit transparent et de la rendre visible comme une image réfléchie, une feuille de transfert stratifiée comprenant une bande de support et une surcouche réfléchissante étant utilisée. La feuille de transfert stratifiée est appliquée sur la surface d'image, la bande support étant ensuite enlevée de sorte que la surcouche protectrice soit libérée et reste liée à la surface d'image.
