On a compactor wheel (10) having outer (13) and inner (21) cylindrical drums, the inner drum (21) being mounted on the vehicle axle (24), there is provided an axially extending shroud (31). The shroud (31) is equipped with a cover plate (36) which together serves to define a cavity enclosing the axle seals and bearings (25) preventing trash from intruding into those components of the compactor vehicle (11).

On décrit une roue de compacteur (10) équipée d'un carénage (31) s'étendant axialement, qui présente des tambours cylindriques externe (13) et interne (21), le tambour interne (21) étant monté sur l'essieu du véhicule. Le carénage (31) est muni d'une plaque de recouvrement (36) avec laquelle il délimite une cavité renfermant les arbres, joints et coussinets (25) pour empêcher la saleté de pénétrer dans ces pièces du compacteur (11).
