Methods for protection of a biomolecule of interest in a biologically derived composition to be subjected to illumination with at least one high-intensity, short duration pulse of incoherent polychromatic light in a broad spectrum (BSPL). Such compositions are supplemented with albumin and then illuminated so that, in the resultant treated compositions, biomolecules of interest remain biologically active as a result of the protection provided by albumin, while the BSPL has exerted its desired effect upon the composition. For example, an active pathogen or other toxin content may have been very substantially reduced, or living cells, e.g. tumorous cells or genetically engineered eukaryotic cells, may have been killed, or a photo-activatable protein may have been rendered active. The biologically derived composition can be a product from a genetically engineered cell line or the like, or it may be a fraction of or an isolate from human or animal sera.
L'invention concerne des procédés permettant de protéger une biomolécule considérée dans une composition biologiquement dérivée, et ce, en éclairant la composition d'au moins une impulsion de courte durée à forte intensité de lumière polychrome incohérente à large spectre (BSPL). Cette composition est complétée par de l'albumine, puis éclairée de sorte que dans la composition résultante traitée, les biomolécules considérées restent biologiquement actives du fait de la protection fournie par l'albumine, pendant que le BSPL exerce un effet désiré sur ladite composition. Par exemple, un contenu de pathogène actif ou d'une autre toxine peut être très sensiblement réduit, ou des cellules vivantes, par exemple, des cellules tumorales ou des cellules eukaryotes issues du génie génétique, peuvent être tuées, ou une protéine photo-activable peut être rendue active. La composition biologiquement dérivée peut être un produit provenant d'une lignée cellulaire issue du génie génétique ou analogue, ou peut être une fraction d'isolat provenant du sérum humain ou animal.
