ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An arrangement for the protection against corrosion of containers for the long-term storage of radioactive materials, particularly of irradiated fuel elements, in suitable geological formations is described. The arrangement prevents the corrosion of the containers even in the case of unexpected presence of water or at least it retards and minimizes the corrosion. Sacrificial anodes are conductively connected to the containers via electrical connections.
