A method for controlling a remote controlled locomotive that is part of a train to insure effective braking, the method including calculating an estimated total energy of a train, calculating- a threshold representing a predetermined braking capability limit of the locomotive, determining whether the estimated total energy is at least one of approaching and exceeding the threshold, and decreasing a velocity of the train until the threshold is at least one of no longer being approached and is no longer exceeded.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de contrôler une locomotive commandée à distance faisant partie d'un train pour assurer un freinage efficace. Ledit procédé consiste à calculer une énergie totale estimée d'un train, à calculer un seuil représentant une limite de la capacité de freinage prédéterminée de la locomotive, à déterminer si l'énergie totale estimée est au moins une qui approche et qui dépasse ledit seuil, et à réduire une vitesse du train jusqu'à ce que le seuil soit au moins un seuil qui n'est plus approché ni dépassé.
