-10- PROTECTION BAR FOR SWINGING DOORS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A protective bar is used for preventing unauthorized opening of a swinging door. The bar has two sockets mounted on the jambs of the door and a rigid, telescoping bar that engages with itself as it ends in the two sockets. When collapsed, one end of the bar may be inserted in one socket and the bar then extended to engage in the other socket. This is a very simple, very effective mechanism for preventing door opening. It is readily released when necessary, even by small children.
