A coating system, for use in reducing air burn oxidation of a carbon anode of an aluminium electrolytic smelter, includes a pre-coat and a top coat which together enable protection of the anode when applied thereover. The pre-coat contains finely divided carbonaceous material dispersed in a solution of a suitable binder. The top coat contains finely divided particulate material, comprising at least one of alumina and cryolite, dispersed in a solution of a suitable binder.
L'invention concerne un système de revêtement, dont le but est de réduire l'oxydation, par l'air brûlant, d'une anode de carbone d'un four de fusion électrolytique d'aluminium. Ledit système de revêtement inclut une précouche et une couche de dessus qui, appliquées sur l'anode, en assurent ensemble la protection. La précouche contient un matériau carboné finement divisé dispersé dans une solution d'un liant approprié. La couche de dessus contient un matériau particulaire finement divisé, comprenant au moins un des composés parmi l'alumine et la cryolithe, dispersé dans une solution d'un liant approprié.
