ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Protective athletic footwear is disclosed and is particularly suited for ball hockey players as but one example. In certain sports there is a need for a shoe which provides protection to both the toe and ankle portion of the shoe, while providing the required flexibility to accommodate running movement. This protection is provided by using molded plastic inserts interior to the shoe which cooperate with the shoe to protect the toes, ankle and achilles tendon region of the wearer. - 1 -
