ABSTRACT Apparatus for protecting a lock from precipitation due to adverse weather, and other environmental conditions is disclosed. A strap is provided, having first and second ends. The second end of the apparatus is securable within a lockable chamber, thereby impeding unauthorized removal of the lock protector. The first end has an integral cap portion adapted to cover an external face of the lock. Preferably, the cap has a rim portion to facilitate gripping or prying for removal. Preferably, the strap has an aperture aligned with the location of the mail box number, so that the number can be seen.
