A protective glove which protects the hand against mechanical injuries caused by sharp objects, for example during sorting of refuse which can contain syringes, has a thin metal foil made of alloyed steel between two layers of material on the bottom side of the glove. This foil is very flexible so that the flexibility of the glove is barely restricted but effectively prevents hypodermic needles from penetrating.
