The invention relates to a protective coating for documents such as a passport, an identification card, or plastic cards such as credit cards, access cards, etc., which is highly resistant to abrasion while having as little influence as possible on the structure of the substrate, i.e. which keeps flexible substrates flexible, and can be applied prior to the document being individualized. The inventive document comprises a flexible or rigid substrate made of a textile material, paper, and/or plastic, particularly film- type or card-type plastic, and a protective coating and is characterized by the fact that said protective coating is less than 0.02 mm thick and is deposited on the substrate particularly from the gas phase and/or plasma phase.
La présente invention concerne un revêtement de protection destiné à des documents, tels qu'un passeport, une carte d'identité ou des cartes plastifiées, comme des cartes de crédit, des cartes d'accès, etc., qui d'un côté doit être extrêmement résistant à l'usure et d'un autre côté exerce le moins d'influence possible sur la structure du substrat, les substrats souples devant également rester souples, et qui peut être appliqué avant l'individualisation du document. Un document selon cette invention, présentant un substrat souple ou rigide en matière textile, papier et/ou matière plastique, notamment en matière plastique sous forme de film ou de carte, et un revêtement de protection, est caractérisé en ce que l'épaisseur du revêtement de protection est inférieure à 1/50 mm et en ce que le revêtement de protection est déposé sur le substrat notamment à partir de la phase gazeuse et/ou plasma.
