Le revêtement de protection des pièces métalliques contre la corrosion en atmosphère saline comporte au moins une couche d'un alliage d'étain et de zinc contenant entre 8 et 35 % en poids de zinc. Avantageusement, la couche d'étain et de zinc est déposée sur une sous-couche d'un alliage de zinc et de nickel contenant entre 10 et 16 % en poids de nickel et la proportion en épaisseur des deux alliages constituant le revêtement est de deux tiers pour l'alliage de zinc et de nickel et de un tiers pour l'alliage d'étain et de zinc. Préférentiellement, le revêtement comporte en outre un film externe de chromate.
