PROTECTIVE COATINGS FOR ASPHALTIC CONCRETE SURFACES AND METHODS FOR FORMING THE SAME Asphaltic concrete surfaces are protected from unde- sirable changes by applying a composition comprising a dior- ganopolysiloxane containing rod-shaped styrene-n-butyl acrylate copolymers which are obtained from the free-radical copolymeri- zation of said monomers in the presence of the diorganopoly- siloxane onto an asphaltic concrete surface and thereafter crosslinking the diorganopolysiloxane composition to form an elastomeric coating thereon. The asphaltic concrete surface may be coated with a primer prior to the application of the cross- linkable diorganopolysiloxane composition in order to improve the adhesion of the resultant crosslinked elastomer containing the rod-shaped copolymers. These asphaltic concrete coatings are especially useful in, for example, hydraulic engineering.
