ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The pleasant invention provides protective covers for books having two cover sections and pockets for receiving book covers, locking flaps in the side of each of the cover sections for locking the protective covers to the book covers, an adjustable spine section to accommodate books of different thicknesses, and a tearaway strip to hold together the two cover sections until they are ready for use. As a result of such construction, an improved protective cover is provided which is simple to manufacture and use, is inexpensive and durable, easily accommo- dates books of different thicknesses. Because of the locking flaps which are operable to be fastened to a book being covered, the first and second covers sections are prevented from separating from each other. They also prevent undesired movement between the protective cover and book during use.
