The protective cover has a longitudinal web (12) of a folded, thin and flexible foil to be laid on a toilet seat (3). The web (12) has a folded edge (15) which becomes a downward-pointing layer when the web (12) is unfolded. The web (12) also has two differently folded regions (17, 18) which apply different tensions when unfolded along the web (12).
