ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A protective device for a building adapted to be installed at a window to prevent ingress. The device comprises a first member to be attached at one edge of the window. A second member is mounted at a further edge of the window. Each member includes recesses formed in it. A bar extends between a pair of opposed recesses to prevent ingress. The bars are located by the attachment of the members to the window surround. The device is simple to install, relatively cheap yet effective as protection. -9-
