A protective device for mounting to a portable computer includes an extension mountable so as to extend at least around an outer circumference of the base of the computer. The extension when so mounted is adapted to protrude substantially in a base plane of the base of the computer outwardly therefrom and substantially contiguously therearound. The extension is adapted for mounting of a carrying strap thereto at oppositely disposed laterally extending ends of the extension.
