The invention concerns a protective breathing equipment comprising a respirator provided with a regulator designed to be connected to a source of breathing mixture under pressure and a harness having at least an extensible strap whereof the ends are connected to the respirator and comprising an element temporarily inflatable with the pressurised breathing mixture to extend the strap until it reaches a sufficient dimension to enable the user to engage the harness on his head and capable of being emptied to enable the strap, to press the respirator against his face. A flexible envelope covering the head is tightly fixed to the single strap or to the upper strap of the harness and fixed to the respirator; it is transparent at least in the portion opposite the eyes when the equipment is worn.

L'équipement de protection respiratoire comprend un masque respiratoire muni d'un régulateur destiné à être relié à une source de gaz respiratoire sous pression et un harnais ayant au moins une sangle exten- sible dont les extrémités sont reliées au masque et qui comporte un élément qui est gonflable temporairement par le gaz sous pression pour allonger la sangle jusqu'à une dimension suffisante pour permettre à l'utilisateur d'engager le harnais sur la tête et vidangeable pour per- mettre à la sangle, d'appliquer le masque contre le vi- sage. Une enveloppe souple recouvrant la tête est fixée de façon étanche à la sangle unique ou à la sangle su- périeure du harnais et fixée au masque; elle est transpa- rente au moins dans une partie qui se trouve en face des yeux lorsque l'équipement est porté.
