ABSTRACT A protective garment for firefighters having a damage resistant protective shell, an inner liner having a collar and a moisture barrier either as a separate layer or incorporated in the outer protective shell wherein the outer protective shell is secured to the inner liner proximate to the inner liner collar by a fastening means such that the observance of the collar is indicative of the presence of the inner liner and the collar construction serves to provide protection for the fastening means.
