ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A protective helmet, comprising: a shell, a flexible liner positioned in the shell to dissipate forces applied against the helmet, with the liner having a fluid filled chamber and a lower front portion spaced above a lower front edge of the shell, and an elongated resilient front pad removably secured to the inside of a lower front portion of the shell, with the front pad extending around the lower front portion of the shell, the liner includes a pair of laterally spaced openings positioned adjacent a front portion of the shell above said lower front edge. The helmet also has a sweat band having a first end secured to the outside of the shell and a second end removably secured to the inside of the helmet, with the sweat band extending around the lower front edge of the shell and the front pad.
