ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A protective helmet comprising, a relatively rigid shell, and a liner of a flexible material having an interior fluid filled chamber, a soft inner conformable surface for con- tacting the wearer's head, and a plurality of openings exterior the liner and extending through the liner. The helmet has a liner of resilient foam material positioned intermediate the liner and the shell and having a multiplicity of inwardly extending pads positioned in the openings outside the liner.
