ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A protective helmet comprising, a shell, and a flex- ible liner positioned in the shell to dissipate forces applied against the helmet, with the liner having a fluid filled chamber. The helmet has a sweat band having one end secured to the out- side of the shell adjacent the front of the helmet, with the sweat band extending over a lower front edge of the shell and a portion of said liner. The helmet also has means for releasably attaching the other end of the sweat band to an inner portion of the shell.
