23443-454 ABSTRACT A protective material for metallic, primed or lacquered surfaces, the material comprising not less than 50% by weight of largely amorphous poly-.alpha.-olefins composed of 3 to 75% by weight of C4-C10-.alpha.-olefins, 25 to 95% by weight of and 0 to 20% by weight of ethene, not more than 30% by weight of other olefin polymers and not mare than 40% by weight of conven- tional additives. The material can be applied in molten form and shows good adhesion and abrasion resistance. The material, which can be easily recycled, is particularly useful for protecting the underfloor region of motor vehicles.
