A thin, flexible, lightweight, cut, puncture and abrasion resistant protective pad for use by hockey and ringette players. The pad is intended to cover and protect both the posterior or back area and side areas of the leg from above the ankle continuously up to the mid to upper thigh area. This pad protects the aforementioned areas of the players' leg from possible laceration, punctures or abrasion type injuries which may result in the event of a skate blade or stick blade coming into contact or otherwise striking the aforementioned leg area. Pad will not impede the player's movement or flexibility during said activity.
