A protective plug for connector or disconnector banks of telecommunication systems is provided with a collective ground connection, comprising a housing with overvoltage suppressors and conductor contacts. To provide a protective plug, for which the housing size is as small as possible such that the cables wired on the wiring side of the connector and disconnector bank are accessible even with a plugged-on protective plug in place, an insertion channel is provided in the protective plug extending along the one pole side of the overvoltage suppressor. The collective earth connection is provided with a lug engaging into the insertion channel for ground connection of the overvoltage suppressor.
