A protective shield for an elongated structure such as a pile, pipeline, utilitypole or support post in which a sheet of a pliable material is wrapped and held in place around the structure. The sheet is held in place by strip fasteners such as a hook and loop Velcro? fastener or an interlocking mushroom shaped Dual Lock fastener, at the edges of the sheet. In an alternative embodiment, radially extending connecting flanges at each edge of the sheet are bolted together to hold the sheet in place on the structure.
