This invention relates to the problems associated with snow removal from the top-level of multi-level, open-air parkades located across Canada. The two serious problems peculiar to these types of parkades are: one, all of them are unusually vulnerable to corrosion from street-salt, and, two, all pose or cause serious parking problems at the top level during the winter months. In order to prevent, or at least to mitigate, the problem of corrosion, a chemical called Isoflex 750 is applied to the entire surface of the top-floor of this type of parkade. This chemical forms a waterproof membrane. This membrane causes serious problems during snow removal operations, because snow removal must be accomplished without damaging the membrane, so as not to destroy its waterproofing quality. The most preferred, and the most common method of snow removal involves the use of front-end loaders. In order not to damage the membrane, the loader blade is kept from two to four inches above the surface of the membrane throughout the entire clearing operation...thereby leaving a snow-pack over the entire parking surface for the duration of the winter. It is this layer of ice and snow that causes a variety of serious parking problems throughout the winter months...especially when cars become "trapped" at the very top of the parkade during a snowfall. Also, when this layer of ice and snow eventually melts, much of this water finds its way down to the lower levels of the parkade and adds to the over-all corrosion problems peculiar to this type of structure. This invention called "The Protective Wear-Blade" is an enabling-device which makes it possible for a front-end loader to remove all of the snow from the top-level of an open-air parkade.
