The present invention provides a protector to fit to the back of a shoe and prevent damage to the rear shoe surface, particularly when driving an automobile. The protector comprises a rear shoe surface covering member, first securing means comprising an elasticized sole heel engaging member and second securing means comprising a heel counter engaging member. The protector is securely mounted to protect the rear surface of the shoe and is easily positioned to cover the area of the rear surface which is most affected during operation of the automobile accelerator pedal.
