A method of modifying tissue behavior, including cardiac tissue, comprising: determining a desired modification of tissue behavior for at least one of treatment of a disease, short or long term modification of tissue behavior, assessing tissue state and assessing tissue response to stimulation; selecting an electric field having a known effect of modifying protein activation levels of at least one protein as an immediate response of a tissue to the field, said known effect correlated with said desired modification; and applying said field to said tissue.

Selon l'invention, une méthode de modification du comportement tissulaire, y compris le tissu cardiaque, consiste à déterminer une modification souhaitée du comportement tissulaire pour au moins un traitement d'une maladie, une modification à court ou long terme du comportement tissulaire, à évaluer l'état tissulaire et la réponse tissulaire suite à une stimulation, à sélectionner un champ électrique possédant un effet connu de modification des niveaux d'activation protéique d'au moins une protéine comme réponse immédiate d'un tissu au champ, ledit effet connu étant corrélé à ladite modification souhaitée. Enfin, ce procédé consiste à appliquer ledit champ au niveau dudit tissu.
