The kit allows visualization of secondary structures such as alpha helix and beta sheet for example. The kit comprises of a main piece representing the "R" group as well as the alpha carbon of the specific amino acid. The second piece encompasses a common backbone of every amino acid. The peptide bond consists of a male and female connection. The dimensionally accurate, rotatable model building members respect the natural angles and bond lengths. The bond angles define the orientation of any three consecutively bonded atoms. This protein model building kit provides an educational means to learn the twenty amino acids as well as the conformations they can take.
