A protocol interface gateway (84) connects a telecommunication system emulator (72) to a communications network (79). The gateway (84) receives signals from the network (79) and sends signals to the network that are formatted in a network protocol. The gateway converts signals received from the network into instructions in emulator code, and sends the instructions in emulator code to the emulator (72) for processing. The emulator executes code in blocks of application software (85) utilized in a target telecommunictions node. The gateway then receives the processed instructions in emulator code from the emulator, converts the processed instructions into signals formatted in the network protocol, and sends the signals to the communications network (79). The protocol interface gateway (84) utilizes a UNIX socket (83) that replaces Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) layers (1 and 2) of the network protocol to send and receive the signals from the network.
L'invention se rapporte à une passerelle (84) d'interface de protocole, qui connecte un émulateur (72) de système de télécommunications à un réseau (79) de communications.
