Abstract Apparatus for maintaining close proximity between a vehicle surface and a forced air water stripper but without contacting the vehicle surface. A sonar detector is connected into a closed loop control system for maintaining close proximity between a Venturi type forced air outlet nozzle and the vehicle surface. Both horizontal vehicle surfaces and vertical vehicle surfaces may be treated. A novel support arm made of one or more plastic panels is also disclosed.
