A method of serodiagnosing tuberculosis in animals by antigen/antibody binding utilizing, as the antigen, one or more pseudo-amide cord factor compounds selected from the group of compounds represented by the following general formula: Image (I) where R1 is a monovalent organic radical having 8 to 90 carbons, 11 to 181 hydrogen atoms and 0 to 10 oxygens; and R2 is hydrogen or a monovalent organic radical having 8 to 90 carbons, 11 to 181 hydrogen atoms and 0 to 10 oxygens.
