A receiver for pseudorandom noise (PRN) encoded signals consisting of a sampling circuit, multiple carrier and code synchronizing circuits, and multiple digital correlators. The sampling circuit provides digital samples of a received composite signal to each of the several receiver channel circuits. The synchronizing circuits are preferably non-coherent, in the sense that they track any phase shifts in the received signal and adjust the frequency and phase of a locally generated carrier reference signal accordingly, even in the presence of Doppler or ionospheric distortion. The multiple correlators in each channel correlate the digital samples with locally generated PRN codes having multiple offsets, to produce a plurality of correlation signals. The plurality of correlation signals are fed to a parameter estimator, from which the delay and phase parameters of the direct path signal, as well as any multipath signals, may be estimated, and from which a range measurement may be corrected.

Un récepteur destiné à des signaux codés de bruit pseudo-aléatoire comporte un circuit d'échantillonnage, de multiples circuits de synchronisation de porteuse et de code, et de multiples corrélateurs numériques. Le circuit d'échantillonnage fournit à chacun des circuits des canaux du récepteur des échantillons numériques d'un signal composite reçu. Les circuits de synchronisation sont de préférence non cohérents du fait qu'ils suivent tout déphasage du signal reçu et ajustent en conséquence la fréquence et la phase d'un signal de référence multiplex généré localement, même en présence d'une distorsion Doppler ou ionosphérique. Les corrélateurs multiples de chaque canal mettent en corrélation les échantillons numériques avec des codes de bruit pseudo-aléatoire généré localement, présentant de multiples décalages, pour produire une pluralité de signaux de corrélation. Ces derniers sont appliqués à un calculateur de paramètres permettant de calculer les paramètres de temps de propagation et de phase du signal à trajet direct, ainsi que de tous signaux à trajets multiples, et de corriger une mesure de distance.
