Propargylamine derivatives having the general formula: Image wherein R is a hydrogen atom, an unsubstituted phenyl group or a phenyl group substituted with halogen, trifluoromethyl, lower alkoxy, nitro, cyano, amido or N,N-di(lower alkyl)amido, R1, R2 or R3 are the same or different and each represent a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, R4 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl, benzyl, phenethyl or furyl group, or R3 and R4 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached form a piperidinyl group, with the proviso that when R is a hydrogen atom, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group and R2 represents a lower alkyl group, and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts, have been found to be useful in the treatment of anxiety, psychotic states and aggressive behavior in affected animals.

L'invention porte sur des dérivés de propargylamine, de formule générale Image , où R est un atome d'hydrogène, un groupe phényle sans substitution ou un groupe phényle avec substitution par un halogène, un groupe trifluorométhyle, alcoxy inférieur, nitro, cyano, amido ou N,N-di(alkyle inférieur)amido, R1, R2 ou R3 sont les mêmes ou différents et représentent chacun un atome d'hydrogène ou un groupe alkyle inférieur, R4 est un atome d'hydrogène ou un groupe alkyle inférieur, benzyle, phénéthyle ou furyle, ou R3 et R4 forment avec l'atome d'azote auquel ils sont liés un groupe pipéridinyle, à la condition que, lorsque R est un atome d'hydrogène, R1 représente un atome d'hydrogène ou un alkyle inférieur, et R2 représente un alkyle inférieur; ainsi que sur les sels d'addition pharmacocompatibles de ces dérivés avec un acide. On a observé que ces dérivés et ces sels étaient utiles pour le traitement de l'anxiété, des états psychotiques et du comportement agressif chez les animaux.
