PTC Electromechanical Relay Abstract of the Disclosure A resistor having a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) is provided in combination with an electomechanical relay as a single unit. The combination is particularly useful in starting split phase motors. The electrical contacts of the electromechanical relay are in series with the PTC. This arrangement takes the PTC out of the circuit after starting and during running of the motor and permits the PTC to be cooled down to below its transformation temperature.
