Apparatus for supporting cargo in a motor vehicle is comprised of first and second securely engaged, but slidably displaceable, subframe portions; a planar web at the forward end of the first subframe portion; and, a transverse slide coupling strap, for receiving the planar web, is affixed to the vehicle's cargo floor adjacent its forward end. A cargo platform is affixed atop the sliding subframe portion, and is able to be displaced laterally upon the sliding subframe portion such that the cargo platform extends from the vehicle. A support roller mounted on the tailgate and including a bar supported for rotation within two pillow blocks supports the slidable subframe portion and cargo platform when extended from the vehicle.
