Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) can be delivered systemically in therapeutically or prophylactically effective amounts by pulmonary administration using a variety of pulmonary delivery devices, including nebulizers, metered dose inhalers and powder inhalers. Aerosol administration in accordance with this invention results in significant elevation of the neutrophil levels that compares favorably with delivery by subcutaneous injection. G-CSF can be administered in this manner to medically treat neutropenia, as well as to combat or prevent infections.
On peut administrer de façon systémique un facteur de stimulation des populations de granulocytes (G-CSF), en quantités efficaces sur les plans thérapeutique et prophylactique, par voie pulmonaire au moyen d'une variété de dispositifs appropriés, y compris des nébulisateurs, des inhalateurs de quantités dosées ou des inhalateurs de pulvérisation. L'administration par aérosol selon l'invention permet d'obtenir une élévation importante des taux de neutrophiles par rapport à l'administration par injection sous-cutanée. On peut administrer le G-CSF de cette façon pour effectuer le traitement médical de la neutropénie, ainsi que pour combattre ou prévenir des infections.
