The present invention relates to a sealing for use in the sealing of a rotating member the sealing being particularly well suitable for sealing of the large-diameter parts of drums used in large wash and filter cylinders, and shafts, of the wood processing industry. The washer in question comprises a stationary outer shell (10), a wash liquid feed chamber (12) disposed inside the shell, which are defined by a perforated plate (16), and a rotating drum disposed inside said surface (16), the drum having a liquid permeable perforated surface (18) whereby the so-called pulp space (20) is defined between said perforated surface (16, 18), the washer being provided at both of its ends with sealing in order to seal the rotating drum mentioned relative to the stationary outer shell, the sealing being formed by a sealing box (26) and a sealing member disposed therein, and it is a characteristic feature of the washer mentioned that the sealing box (26) has been provided with means (40) for introducing pressure medium, preferably liquid, into the sealing box (26).

La présente invention concerne un joint servant à rendre étanche un organe rotatif. Ce joint est particulièrement adapté pour rendre étanche les parties à large diamètre des tambours utilisés dans des cylindres de lavage et de filtrage de grande taille, et des arbres de transmission, de l'industrie de transformation du bois. Le laveur en question comporte une enveloppe extérieure fixe (10), et une chambre d'alimentation (12) de liquide de lavage placée à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe, définis par une plaque perforée (16), ainsi qu'un tambour rotatif placé à l'intérieur de ladite surface (16). Le tambour comporte une surface perforée (18) perméable aux liquides. Un espace (20) dit à pâte est défini entre lesdites surfaces perforées (16, 18), le laveur étant pourvu à ses deux extrémités de joints destinés à rendre étanche ledit tambour rotatif par rapport à l'enveloppe extérieure fixe. Le joint est formé par une boîte d'étanchéité (26) et un organe d'étanchéité placé dans celle-ci. Ladite laveuse se caractérise par le fait que la boîte d'étanchéité (26) a été pourvue de moyens (40) permettant d'introduire un milieu sous pression, de préférence un liquide, dans la boîte d'étanchéité (26).
