A B S T R A C T The method of loading high magazine log grinders having top magazine inlets consisting of stacking the logs to an even depth in a stacking conveyor, removing a batch of logs from the top of the stacking conveyor by a grapple, transferring the grapple and the batch of logs by a cab operated crane to a position over a magazine inlet, lowering the grapple and, depositing the batch of logs within the magazine, and a mechanized loading system for high magazine log grinders having top magazine inlets, comprising a stacking conveyor, a cab operated crane above the conveyor, the cranes having a runway straddling both the conveyor and the tops of the magazines and a grapple depending from the crane for lifting logs from the conveyor and depositing them into the magazine inlets.
