An apparatus and method for providing positive and negative pressure to a portion of a body for the purpose of improving blood flow in that portion of the body. The apparatus including a pressure chamber (12) configured to generally conform to and surround a portion of the body, with the chamber adapted to receive the portion of the body within an opening in the chamber. The chamber also including a flexible liner (24) adapted to surround the portion. The liner is configured to extend beyond the chamber when the portion covered by the liner is placed within the chamber with the chamber sealing to the liner. Additionally including a pressure control device (18) having sources of positive and negative pressure. The device being operably connected to the chamber to provide positive and negative pressure to the portion within the chamber in a predetermined, controlled manner. A pressure patch is also described.
L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant de produire une pression positive et négative sur une partie du corps de façon à améliorer le flux sanguin dans cette partie du corps. Ledit appareil comprend une chambre de pression (12) configurée pour se conformer de manière générale et entourer une partie du corps, ladite chambre étant conçue pour recevoir la partie du corps à l'intérieur d'un orifice de la chambre. Ladite chambre comprend également une doublure (24) flexible conçue pour entourer la partie. Ladite doublure est configurée de façon à s'étendre en dehors de la chambre lorsque la partie couverte par la doublure est placée à l'intérieur de la chambre, cette dernière étant fermée sur la doublure. Ledit appareil comprend également un dispositif de commande de pression (18) présentant des sources de pression positive et négative. Ledit dispositif est relié de manière fonctionnelle à la chambre pour produire de la pression positive et négative pour la partie située à l'intérieur de la chambre d'une manière commandée, prédéterminée. L'invention concerne également une pièce de pression.
