ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A PRI (pulse repetition interval) autocorrelator that functions as a data analyzer for recognition of PRIs in a data set composed of time ordered TOA (time or arrival) words representing the time of reception of a plurality of pulses from a plurality of emitters. The processing of a data set is performed at each of a plurality of cells of a plurality of coarse map intervals or octaves by adding an incremental assumed periodicity ? to the time of arrival and performing an autocorrelation comparison of the data set for each cell. As ? increases integrally, octaves are formed by the autocorrelation process and in the illustrated system, eight octaves are sequentially examined, each including 8 cells. For the autocorrelation of each cell, the TOA words are compared with a double matching process and the correlation counts are developed for each cell of an octave. An amplitude ordered list is then formed of the cell correlation counts which are greater than a threshold and subcells of each cell on the list are subject to a fine - 2 - level autocorrelation. Upon determining the presence of an emitter above a threshold in a subcell at the fine level, the PRI is known to be equal to the symbol utilized for correla- tion of that subcell. The system then enters a deletion mode to flag or delete the TOA words that matched in that subcell. Upon completion of the deletion mode at the fine level, the process is repeated at the coarse level to form a new coarse level list of possible emitters. The operation proceeds until all octaves have been processed for the presence of emitter and in the illustrated system the opera- tion is repeated on a new data set gathered at different angles and frequencies.
