In a pulsed-signal magnetomechanical electronic article surveillance system, a single transmit circuit (16) is used to drive two or more parallel-connected interrogation signal transmitting antennas (18-1, 18-2). One or more switchable damping circuits (34-1, 34-2) are provided in series with the antennas to promote rapid damping of the interrogation signal at the end of each signal pulse. The damping circuit(s) are situated to provide damping in the loop(s) formed by the parallel connected antennas. Each switchable damping circuit is formed of a resistance (38) connected between a respective antenna and a terminal (36-1, 36-2) of the transmit circuit, as well as a switching element (40) connected across the resistance. The switching element is maintained in a conducting condition during each signal pulse and is open- circuited at the end of each pulse to bring the resistance into effective damping connection with the transmit antennas.

Dans un système électronique magnétomécanique à signal pulsé de surveillance d'articles, on utilise un seul circuit de transmission pour entraîner au moins deux antennes de transmission de signaux d'interrogation connectées en parallèle (18-1, 18-2). Un ou plusieurs circuits d'amortissement commutables (34-1, 34-2), fournis en série avec les antennes, servent à assurer un amortissement rapide du signal d'interrogation à la fin de chaque impulsion de signal. Le (les) circuit(s) d'amortissement est (sont) situé(s) de façon à assurer l'amortissement dans la (les) boucle(s) formée(s) par les antennes connectées en parallèle. Chaque circuit d'amortissement commutable est constitué d'une résistance (38) connectée entre l'antenne correspondante et un terminal (36-1, 36-2) du circuit de transmission, ainsi que d'un élément de commutation (40) connecté aux bornes de la résistance. L'élément de commutation est maintenu en état de conduction pendant chaque pulsation de signal et se trouve à circuit ouvert à la fin de chaque pulsation, de sorte que la résistance est en connexion d'amortissement réelle avec les antennes de transmission.
