ABSTRACT A pump comprises an impeller having a shaft; a casing incorporating therewithin the impeller, a sucking opening for sucking a main flow liquid e.g. ultrapure liquid and a discharge opening for discharging the main flow liquid; and a cylinder integrally associated with the casing; wherein an intercepting stream to intercept the impurities occurring from slidable means such as a bearing in the cylinder is formed in a slight gap between the casing and the slidable means, and the intercepting stream is derived from the main flow liquid. As a result, the main flow liquid flowing in the interior of the casing is prevented from being mixed with the impurities.
